New Years Resolutions for a Successful Business
The year ahead is certain to be a challenging one for all businesses but with a bit of well thought out planning and a positive approach, success is potentially possible for all. Here are several New Years Resolutions that are sure to contribute to that success.
I will build relationships. In tough times it is human nature to cling to those people and things that can be trusted. Resolve to build and strengthen your business relationships. Make customer service your point of distinction. Stay in touch with your clients and customers, build loyalty, strengthen your business relationships with your vendors and suppliers and remember to value your employees.
I will focus on my business goals. Now is not the time to put your business on auto-pilot. Focus on the needs that will move your business forward. Effect change when it is called for and do not dwell on that which is out of your control. Keep short range and long range goals in clear perspective. Delegate if necessary. Work smart without distractions. Refocus as necessary but don’t lose sight of your ultimate goals.
I will listen more. Many new ideas are at first dismissed. When looking for ways to maintain and grow your business, listen to the ideas and suggestions of others. Listen to your business partners, customers, and especially your employees. Many great ideas are born internally by those who know your business best. Solicit others for input on how to improve business from the inside out and outside in and listen to those suggestions.
I will learn. There is always something more to be learned. Teach yourself a new skill. Join a committee or organization to learn how they do business. Form a network for social or business learning opportunities. Learn from others how they conduct business and ask for help when you have a problem with yours. Share ideas and learn from the mistakes and successes of others.
I will be a leader. To be competitive in this business climate you need to be a leader and not a follower. Innovation will drive business opportunities. Keep current by researching your competition, paying attention to trends and keeping an open mind. Utilize the internet for instant feedback and note hot topics like environmental awareness, health and the economy. Be creative by leading rather than by just reacting.
I will be receptive to change. Just because something has always worked in the past does not insure that it will continue to do so in the future. Take a close look at your processes and procedures and be willing to change the way things are done in order to make them better. Change is scary and often difficult to manage but can be exciting if handled correctly. Energize enthusiasm for your business by accepting and leading the movement for changes that offer improvement.
I will ask for help. Seek opportunities to grow your business during these tough times. Now is not the time to be timid. Ask for customer referrals. Ask your employees to share ideas for improvement. Ask for business by marketing and promoting your product or services. Ask for help from your vendors as they are trying to keep their business strong as well. The old saying, “it never hurts to ask” is true more now than ever before!
None of the above suggestions are new and I’m sure you’ve heard them over and over again. The key though is to remember them and follow through with your resolutions throughout the year. Keep your list ready and review it regularly throughout the coming year. Resolutions are easily forgotten but those that are focused on usually result in success. One final resolution should be to review and adhere to those resolutions made in January.
Remember to thank those that help you along the way by sending Business Thank You Referral Cards, Business Appreciation Cards and general Thank You Cards.

Here’s to a promising and profitable 2009!

What is… New Year resolution? Your resolution? & why? How important is to have one? ?
Wish you & your families a very happy & a prosperous new year. May all your dreams come true this year, with the blessings of almighty.
Year 2009 seems to be surprisingly a different year, with lots of uncertainties across the globe. I felt that, during this year we all need to be connected & create awareness. I am going to use yahoo answers as a medium to educate myself & others on happenings across the globe. This is one of my resolutions apart from making my parallel business (apart from current job) successful.
Even though I have become very busy by doing jobs at the same time, I have decided to actively participate in the Yahoo Answers.
During my break in the last few months, many of you keep in touch with me and encouraged me to come back. I would like to sincerely convey my humble thanks and regards.
Last year I did make some resolutions and at least 80% of them came true & it was useful. Does this New Year resolution have any spiritual essence?
With Love
Gentleman

LikeDislikeI am happy to see you back, Gentleman! I made two resolutions this year. The first one is to read the entire Old Testament of the Holy Bible. The second one is to cut down on the amount of paper my business generates by consolidating functions and learning to use new electronic means of storage. So to that end I am on Chapter 8 of the book of Genesis and this week I am taking a small computer training class on different electronic storage options. Oh, and my third resolution is to keep my email in-box to 25 emails or less, and so far I am doing pretty good with that. Right now I have 25, so tomorrow I will have to read and delete, read and delete.
May God bless you this New Year.
Your Friend Jennifer

LikeDislikeOke ! Good to see u back gentleman !
Well usually have resolutions that involve eating healthy and loosing weight just like every typical American. But just like 80 % of them, I fail. But this year, i wanted it to be different. I wanted to do something that I have never done before. So my new years resolution is to read 100 novels/fictional books this year. I am on my 3rd one right now ! So i am off to a good start ! I just hope I can keep up the same attitude towards it. I am sure I will !
The reason i chose this is because of my literature class. Most students in the class are excellent readers and one time in class we had a dicussion about author’s styles and all. I didn’t know many of the typical modern American authors they were talking about. That made me realize, i should read more ! So there we go ! That is my resolution !!!!! U like it ?????
Good luck with urz !!!

LikeDislikeNew year resolution is a positive way to start a "new" year… it is the realisation of the fact that we need to improvise ourself… and determination that we WILL improve upon a specific weakness in us… or we will like to do good in a perticular way.
My new yr resolution is to be better in my duties… to be a better student, a better daughter, sister, friend…
These are the yrs when i will make my career, so my primary focus would be my studies.. that was also my last year’s resolution, which i fulfilled to a gr8 extent.. i improved myself in my studies and gave a good performance… wish to be better in the times to come.
It is important to have a resolution, without a goal in one’s mind, one cannot reach the destination… so it is important to be determined towards it… but more important and more difficult is to stick to the resolution.. when we stick to our promises it makes us more confident…
Wishing all YA users a wonderful new year… hope u all keep good resolutions and fulfill them completely by the end of the yr !
God bless.
Regards,
Madhavi

LikeDislikeWhat a wonderful surprise, seeing you back one of the best things i’ve got this year.
Well, i didn’t make a resolution yet because i born in the same month so i take this period (from 1/1 to 23/1) to make mine. Here’s a brief of what i want to do in this new year,
Personal things :
1- I’ll try to take some speech lessons because i’m that guy who spent so many years without friends, away from the community. so i express my self perfectly with writing and paint but not talking.
that’s because i used to take all my time to choose my terms carefully,. and the same about the lines and colros when i paint. and of course when you speak with someone, you don’t have that time.
2- I’ll have kind of therapy to not be that shy guy i am. i’m shy even when i discuss things with the others .. i mean when there’s no reason to be shy. i should get more bold.
3- I’ll try to control my nerves(not get angry) this was in my last year resolution but i must work on myself a little more.
4- Try to work on my spiritual life more and more, my relationship with the god still not as i want it to be. still far away (or maybe too close).
5- Try to be good at my work.
The general things:
I’ll try to make this year a year of tolerance & forgiveness.
tolerance because this last year made me believe that we all can make mistakes, small or big, that’s the creature’s nature so we must be tolerant for each other.
And because of the same thing we should forgive those who hurt us with intention. doesn’t matter how cruel they were. or what kind of hurting they did. only the god who have the right to be judgmental and that’s why i think that we should pray for the god to forgive them too and make them find their way.
Welcome home dear friend
Thanks Yahoo
